to be an eMINTS Teacher here!
eMINTS (enhancing Missouri’s Instructional Networked
Teaching Strategies) is a nation-wide initiative conducted
through the eMINTS
National Center. The mission of eMINTS
is to transform education for all learners through high-quality
teaching, powered by technology.
Born in Missouri and now a nation-wide program, eMINTS is the first program officially
aligned with the ISTE National Educational Technology Standards for Teachers (NETS-T). The eMINTS Comprehensive Professional Development Program has been
awarded the ISTE Seal of Alignment demonstrating full alignment with all 23
ISTE National Educational Technology Standards for Teachers. eMINTS is the first professional development program in the world to achieve
this degree of full alignment.
The key to the success of this program is not the technological
hardware and software put in place, but the professional development
and commitment of the educator to teach in a constructivist
manner, developing an inquiry-based environment, where teachers
become facilitators and students become leaders.
In an eMINTS room you will find:
- a 2:1 student-to-computer ratio
- Smart Board system
- Cross Curricular Software
- Extensive Online Research
- Teacher Laptop
- Extensive Teacher Professional Development
- Many “busy” students who work collaboratively
to solve problems, create projects, and monitor their very
own progress!
Through the eMINTS
based approach, we have found that properly integrated technology
can be an equalizer for students who struggle in school, and
it is our goal to see more students succeed in their educational
endeavors through properly integrated instructional technology.
We are excited about this program and all of the promise that it holds for Joplin students. The Joplin School District currently has over 30 eMINTS and eJOPLIN classrooms that have been funded through both grants and local dollars. The district has applied for additional grant funds to add more eMINTS classrooms throughout the district.
