Timothy T. Reynolds Multimedia Learning Center

Located on the campus of Joplin High School, the Timothy T. Reynolds Multimedia Learning Center is a district-wide facility that is open for scheduling to teachers and to the community within the Joplin School District. The Reynolds MMC has been up and running since January of 1995.

The Reynolds Center houses a conference room and a computer lab which are both controlled by the central master control room equipped with a digital switcher, audio board, camera controls, VCR's, and monitors. This equipment enables the transmission of a broadcast-quality signal. Fiber optic  cable links the control room to other schools,  the administration building, and Cable One, allowing for broadcast over the local cable network on cable channel 14. Regular programming that was once broadcast through MSSU will still be seen on KGCS-TV UHF channel 57.

The Reynolds Center is also home to twenty-two iMac computer editing stations, offering students hands-on experience with state-of-the-art post-production techniques. With the use of iLife (iMovie, iPhoto, iTunes, iDVD) the students produce a variety of projects including news reports, music videos, documentaries, photo essays, and short films. They can also experience directing live broadcast utilizing the digital switcher in the master control room.

Those involved with the Reynolds Center are excited by the opportunities it offers students across the district. With the addition of the new 1300 square ft. JET-14 television studio,  students are able to produce live news casts, interview shows, and a variety of different genres of production. The television studio houses four digital studio cameras with full communication, 16 in/output digital switcher, mini DV capabilities, DVCPro capabilities, monitors, full audio and light boards, and two broadcast sets. We are equally excited by the creative uses teachers will develop as they learn what is available and think of ways to utilize it to benefit their students.
