District Honored for 10 Years of Exemplary School Bus Maintenance
The Joplin School District has earned an Exemplary School Bus Maintenance Award from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). The district has passed its annual school bus inspection with at least 90% compliance for the past ten years. Each spring, the Missouri State Highway Patrol conducts the inspections to verify that buses meet all Missouri school bus regulations and safety standards.
“We recognize and congratulate our bus maintenance department for 10 consecutive years of high passage of the stringent standards for bus inspection,” says Assistant Superintendent Doug Domer. “Our primary goal for transportation is to provide safe and efficient transportation for our students. The maintenance of a bus is a major factor in providing that.”
An award plaque from the state will be presented to Joplin Schools’ Fleet and Grounds Supervisor, John Hoke, by Assistant Superintendent Domer during the Board of Education work session on Tuesday evening.
