1. First you'll be assigned to a team of 3 students. Each of you will have a role: Manager: You are responsible to make sure every voice is heard. You will focus your work on learning the task, finding alternate resources in print form if necessary, and keeping everyone on task. Recorder: You will gather your group members' ideas in graphic organizers. Construction: You will put together the PowerPoint at the end. You are also responsible for making sure your team finishes up in a timely matter each day. Your teacher will give you your time frame. Each of you will be responsible for a portion of the presentation.
3. You should visit websites to learn how books are picked to receive other awards: Create a web in Kidspiration that briefly describes how the Newberry, Laura Ingalls Wilder, and Children's Notable Books award winners are identified. 4. Use the chart provided to organize your information about your author. 5. Read the first few chapters of the selected books on each Author's page. Analyze the type of writing as descriptive, dialogue, imagery, etc. and record that on the chart. Identify the genre. 6. Use the chart as your guide to build your PowerPoint. As earlier mentioned, each of you is responsible for a portion of the presentation. Be sure to check Evaluation guidelines! |
