The Process

STEP ONE:

Both you and your partner will be keeping an individual journal that describes daily events as you travel through the body.  Be sure to include which systems you’ve encountered and what happened to you while you were there.  As you travel, you will need to make note of where systems branch or merge together.  This needs to be included in your journal because unfamiliar travelers will need to be aware of any turns in the road! Begin with one system and research all links for that system before moving on to another system. Be sure to find ways the systems work together. It would be a good idea to use the Systems Organizer to keep your findings arranged in a neat way.

STEP TWO:

After you’ve completed the journal, you and your partner will create a road map of the body and the systems you’ve journeyed through.  One of you will be the cartographer (map maker) and the other will be the artist in charge of road signs and billboards. Remember where the road merged-you’ll need to note that with road signs and billboards that describe what is happening here.

STEP THREE:

Finally, you’ve got to find a way home.  You can’t stay in the body forever!  You and your partner will determine the best way to leave the body.  As you prepare for this, use the Pros and Cons chart to make a list for any way you've found to leave. Present your journey home to the rest of the class by preparing a multimedia presentation that describes how you’ve chosen to get home and why you think this is the best way home.  Be prepared!  Your classmates will be ready to challenge your route!
