TREK (Teaching Reading and math to Every Kid)
One hour a week makes a real difference in the life of a
child!
Now in its eighth year, TREK is a successful coaching program
designed to assist elementary students with reading and math.
TREK is a joint effort of Joplin Schools, the Joplin Chamber
of Commerce, and community volunteers like you!
TREK volunteers spend one hour per week
for 23 weeks tutoring a third or fourth grade student one-on-one.
The 2008-2009 program runs September 29th through
March 11th. Training and supplies are provided, and
a training session is held on September 10th for all new coaches
and any returning coaches who wish to attend.
Coaching occurs on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday from 3:10 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the following elementary schools:
