TREK (Teaching Reading and math to Every Kid)

One hour a week makes a real difference in the life of a child!

Now in its eighth year, TREK is a successful coaching program designed to assist elementary students with reading and math. TREK is a joint effort of Joplin Schools, the Joplin Chamber of Commerce, and community volunteers like you!

TREK volunteers spend one hour per week for 23 weeks tutoring a third or fourth grade student one-on-one. The 2008-2009 program runs September 29th through March 11th. Training and supplies are provided, and a training session is held on September 10th for all new coaches and any returning coaches who wish to attend.

Coaching occurs on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday from 3:10 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the following elementary schools:
