Joplin High School principal Dr. Randy Oliver has been named the Southwest Region High School Principal of the Year by the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals. He was recognized at a surprise ceremony at JHS on Friday, August 21.

“It means the world to me,” said Dr. Oliver. “But what it really represents is the work that all of our staff and our assistant principals and our custodians and our cooks and everybody that has a part in shaping education in Joplin Schools. [This award] really represents them.”

Being named the SW Region winner, Dr. Oliver is now in the running to represent Missouri as the statewide High School Principal of the Year.

SWMO Association of Secondary School Principals representative Jeff Brown was on site to presented the award, along with Joplin Schools Superintendent Dr. Kerry Sachetta.

“It means a tremendous amount for the school,” said Dr. Sachetta. “[This award] exemplifies what Randy and the whole team is doing at Joplin High School, and shows that he’s working with his team very effectively and kids are benefitting from it.”

“It means something to be an Eagle in this town,” said Dr. Oliver, “and I’m so proud to represent them on the state level.”
